Born in Norfolk, VA, Theren Albritton completed his BS degree in Mass Communications at Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia. Theren began his broadcasting and music entertainment career as an intern under then Urban Music Head Taryn Brown of RCA/BMG (Texas), an experience that helped shape his professional foundation in music, media, and artist development. He was later employed as a Promotions Assistant for Clear Channel Communications, 92.1 “The Beat” WMYK-FM / WSVY-FM, where he worked closely with Promotions teams supporting WOWI-FM “103 JAMZ” (Urban Music) and WJCD-FM (Smooth Jazz & Blues) formats, servicing Clear Channel announcers, artists, and clients such as Bobby J, Keiko Matsui, and Norman Brown, among others.

As a professional in the Radio Broadcasting Industry, he provided Remote Broadcast support to Clear Channel Communications (then one of the nation’s largest broadcast networks). He has worked as a Studio Technician at WVEC TV Channel 13 (ABC Affiliate) and as a Digital Broadcasting System Operator at WCMS AM/FM Radio (ABC Affiliate). He also provided assistance to Owner/Operator Marjorie Crump, helping to service WCMS clients and artists at the Virginia Beach-based Amphitheater, including Pam Tillis, Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Deanna Carter, and many others, in conjunction with the Norfolk Town Point Jazz & Blues Festival, Norfolk Fest events, and other sponsored events.

A musician in his own right, Theren has served as a Chief Engineering Assistant and Session Drummer for recording-artist–sponsored events nationally televised on the BET Network, and has worked with local and mega churches and numerous gospel recording artists including Juanita Bynum and Norris Garner. He has also worked as an independent contractor with Reginald Dillard and Francis McDonald of Coda Musical Services on engagements at the Hampton University Convocation Center (H.U.).

As a product of the Norfolk State University Music, Media, Mass Communications, and Journalism Departments, Theren studied under John Lindberg of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and was featured as Drummer/Percussionist with the NSU Jazz Ensemble under the guidance of Rogers Brown (RaJazz). He was also a member of the Percussion Ensemble and Wind Ensemble.

A Chesapeake-based recording musician, Theren has served as an independent session musician, percussionist, and East Coast–national touring drummer. He has performed in several notable productions with the NSU Jazz Ensemble, including the NAFEO Conference, Hampton University Count Basie Orchestra Jazz Institute, and at the L.
